General Oceans, an industry leader in underwater technologies, is committed to expanding its influence beyond commercial and technological goals to the improvement, development and evolution of conserving our oceans, lakes and rivers. We aim to achieve this through the General Oceans Foundation, which is a Not-For-Profit organisation established to drive positive, tangible actions within underwater environments and surrounding habitats. This role will take the lead in exploring and co-ordinating all these variables to deliver exceptional and sustainable outcomes. Global travel will be required.

The Foundation Lead will play a pivotal role in advancing the Foundation's mission by identifying impactful projects, raising awareness of the Foundation's initiatives, and fostering collaboration in the field of ocean protection and technology. Reporting directly to the General Oceans Foundation Board, this individual will be instrumental in ensuring that the Foundation achieves its potential.

We are seeking someone with a genuine passion for the ocean environment and/or ocean technologies. It is important to have some understanding of how products can be used for the benefit of sustainability projects and to have the confidence to build the relationships that will bring many moving parts together to solve complex problems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Selection & Management: Collaborate with the Foundation board to identify, evaluate, and recommend projects for funding or support. Seek out opportunities to make a difference through the collaborative use of General Oceans’ Group technology and expertise across the globe. Establish and maintain relationships with project stakeholders, including researchers, NGOs, and community organizations. Monitor the progress and impact of funded projects, providing regular updates to the board.
  • Outreach & Awareness: Develop and execute campaigns to raise awareness about the Foundation's mission and activities. Represent the Foundation at events, conferences, and in public forums to build visibility and partnerships. Manage the Foundation's online presence, including website updates and social media.
  • Collaboration & Networking: Build relationships with industry leaders, government agencies, and academic institutions in ocean protection and technology. Identify opportunities for partnerships and joint initiatives to further the Foundation's goals.
  • Internal Promotion and Collaboration: Build key relationships across the Group to understand geographic and associated foundation opportunities. Grow an understanding of products and technologies, and how they can be utilised to deliver projects that can make a difference within the ocean environment.
  • Administration & Reporting: Organize and facilitate board meetings, including preparing agendas and materials. Track and manage the Foundation's budget in alignment with approved projects and activities. Prepare detailed reports on the Foundation's impact and outcomes for stakeholders.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • A strong passion for ocean protection and technology.
  • Sound technical and application knowledge relating to product groups relevant to General Oceans companies.
  • Proven experience in project management, nonprofit coordination, or a similar role.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in social media management and outreach tools.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Additional qualities desired:

  • Experience working with Foundations or in grant-making organizations.
  • Passion for exploring new things, meeting new people, making a difference.
