DUTIES:

  • Work within the GM Motorsports program to develop performance metrics, conceptualize new analysis methods, and implement these techniques to produce improved on-track performance.
  • Derivation and validation of new performance metrics and new analysis procedures to better characterize vehicle or team performance.
  • Collaboration with the GM Software group is essential in implementing these methods into production tools.
  • Collaborate with GM supported teams and GM personnel to understand team objectives, participate in a coordinated effort and convey findings.
  • Continuously strive to improve GM Motorsports programs’ analysis methods and vehicle dynamics understanding.
  • Reimagining new and better solutions to common problems or questions.
  • Staying informed of latest industry advances.
  • Drawing on math, physics, vehicle dynamics and data science methods to develop new performance measures to characterize vehicle handling, performance, and potential.
  • Prototyping new ideas and validating these against track and test data.
  • Team up with GM Software groups and TWG Motorsports personnel to implement solutions into our production toolchain.
  • Collaborate with group Performance Engineers to employ newest methods and tool into production analysis procedures, continually increasing the insight derived from regular analysis work.

Hybrid Work Policy - 3 days In-office, 2 days remote - Must be able to report to local office.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Data Analytics, Computer Engineering, or related field of study.
  • Five (5) years of experience as a Data Platform Engineer, Graduate Data Engineer, Data Engineer, or related occupation.
  • OR Master’s degree in Physics, Data Analytics, Computer Engineering, or related field of study.
  • Three (3) years of experience as a Data Platform Engineer, Graduate Data Engineer, Data Engineer, or related occupation.
  • Three (3) years of experience in the following: Top-level motorsports series including NASCAR, IMSA, F1, IndyCar and WEC; F1 program; Data Science and engineering experience in motorsports; Develop and build analysis tools in motorsports; and Programming in python and MATLAB.
