The Role: We are seeking a Senior Motorsports CFD Analyst to join a multi-disciplined team of engineers who are responsible for developing, correlating, and analyzing full car and subsystem simulations of varying complexity. You will work with GM Motorsports colleagues and GM race teams to ensure the teams can develop the highest performing vehicles possible. Working within the motorsports aerodynamics team, you will provide support, methods, and analysis for wind tunnel and track development and correlation.
What You’ll Do:
- Support full car and subsystem models capable of detailed aerodynamic simulation.
- Develop and execute CFD simulations, analyse and report on results to help GM team develop race winning cars.
- Plan and conduct correlational analysis of CFD and wind tunnel test results.
- Encourage and assist colleagues to work in an efficient and high paced manner to increase the performance and knowledge of the team.
- Assist developers to implement new methods and processes to the GM Motorsport pipeline.
- Remain apprised of the latest developments in the field of CFD to keep the models at the leading edge of technology.
- Interface and collaborate with GM Race Teams, GM Production, GM IT and GM Software groups to ensure technology developed is transferred effectively.
What You’ll Need (Required Qualifications):
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering or a related subject with coursework in Aerodynamics, Computational Fluid Dynamics, and Thermodynamics.
- 6+ years of related industry experience within the motorsport Industry.
- Substantial experience with CFD software (Star CCM+) as well as other flow simulation and visualisation related software and methods.
- Experience with CAD software and design methodology.
- Experience with scripting languages (Python and Java preferred).
- Strong written, verbal and organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment, with strong work ethic and integrity.
- Self-motivation along with the ability to effectively work with others and support team goals.
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time/year.

- Expertise of CAD software (Siemens NX and ANSA preferred).
- Significant experience developing detailed models and meshes ready for CFD simulations.
- Knowledge of the regulations for various motorsport series.
- Knowledge of data collection and correlational methods for use during wind tunnel or track tests.
- Proficiency in Linux, Windows and Microsoft Azure environments.
- Understanding of various aerodynamic turbulence models as they relate to specific CFD test methods and results.
- Experience with the architecture and performance of various automotive race vehicles.
