Onsite: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Grand Blanc, MI five times per week.
We are seeking a skilled Engine Build Technician to join our Motorsports Propulsion and Performance Team, responsible for assembling high-performance and prototype engines across a diverse portfolio. This role is ideal for a hands-on professional with a passion for racing, precision craftsmanship, and the drive to deliver engines that perform at the highest levels of competition.
What You’ll Do
- Assemble high performance racing engines to exacting specifications and instructions.
- Record and track build data that is collected and analyzed.
- Maintain good housekeeping, follow workplace organization process, and adhere to environmental requirements for the area.
- Demonstrate excellent attention to detail with ability to follow work instructions.
- Use your strong knowledge of the tools, equipment, materials, methods, and standard practices of Engine Assembly.
- Display a solid appreciation of the importance of completing tasks on time and with accuracy.
- Exhibit outstanding interpersonal and relationship leadership skills to effectively collaborate with varying levels of the organization as needed.
- Consistently demonstrates innovative thinking that is customer-centric.
- Adapt to a changing work environment and competing demands.
- Able to work alternative shift schedules, including weekends.
What You’ll Need (Required Qualifications)
- Associate’s degree in applied science in an Automotive field or equivalent related experience.
- 3 or more years of experience with automotive engine building operations, assembly, and inspection in prototype and/or production environments.
- Strong mechanical abilities, proficiency with typical measuring devices such as micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, torque wrenches, etc. found in engine build and machine shops.
- Strong background in high performance engine development, validation and testing.
- Able to read and work from blueprints.
- Perform physical duties involving standing, sitting, and lifting to 50 pounds, using upper body, arms, and hands to pull on wrenches used in the assembly process.
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- 3 or more years of experience with high performance and race engine building operations, assembly, and inspection in prototype and/or production environments.
