External Member Investment Committee - London 325 per day Contract Financial Services sectorDo you have an extensive investment background and board-level experience in an executive/non-executive role? The General Medical Council (GMC) is seeking to co-opt one external member onto its Investment Committee for an initial period of four years.
As the independent regulator of doctors, physician associates (PAs) and anaesthesia associates (AAs) in the UK we work with doctors, PAs, AAs, those they care for and other stakeholders to support good, safe patient care across the UK. We set the standards doctors, PAs, AAs and their educators need to meet, and help them achieve them. If there are concerns these standards may not be met or that public confidence in doctors, PAs, or AAs may be at risk, we can investigate, and take action if needed. The GMCs Council is responsible for the overall investment policy but has delegated operational decision-making and policy implementation of its 63 million investment, to the Investment Committee.
Your broad investment experience will have been gained either in fund management or in the monitoring and reporting of investment performance. Knowledge and experience with fixed income, managing multi-asset fund managers and risk management would be desirable. As well as detailed knowledge of investments and corporate governance, you will have a sensitive appreciation of ethical dimensions of investment decisions. You will also need the ability to think and act strategically, influence others and consider the bigger picture as well as detail. With a high degree of integrity, you must be able to comply with the GMC members code of conduct and the Nolan Principles of Public Life.
Youll need to be able to attend committee meetings four times a year in London attendance at additional meetings may be arranged at the discretion of the Chair. Members will therefore be expected to be available at least four days a year plus preparation time.
