We’re looking for a Senior Energy Analyst to join our Index team and play an important part in maintaining the quality of our indexes, engaging with market participants, and helping GX benchmarks gain wider recognition and trust.
General Index (GX) delivers future-proof commodity prices. Our spot prices and forward curves are calculated algorithmically based on thousands of daily trades collated from 240+ data partners, using transparent and consistent methodologies and a compliant approach. Producing 5,900+ daily prices in crude oil, refined products, natural gas and energy transition, we democratise access to benchmarks that represent real market activity.

What you'll be doing:- Responsibility for daily price generation.
- Ensuring calculations are accurate and aligned with GX methodology.
- Engagement and relationship-building with participants and data contributors in this segment.
- Development of trade- and data-based market insights and analysis to contextualise price movements.
- Working closely with Sales and other teams to help clients understand and adopt GX data.
- Contribute to the identification and development of new markets, from early research through to index launch.
- Support GX webinars, publications and other thought-leadership content.
- Mentor and support junior analysts, sharing knowledge and best practice.
- 2–3 years’ experience in price discovery, price reporting, or a related role within oil or energy markets.
- A relevant degree or qualification (e.g. Mathematics, Economics, Finance or similar), or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong numerical skills and a careful, detail-oriented approach.
- Confidence using Excel.
- Enjoyment of working as part of a team and supporting others.
- A curious mindset with a practical, solutions-focused approach.
- Clear, confident communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Experience with Python or similar tools is a bonus, but not required.
