Repair Officer

General Dynamics Land Systems is on the look-out for a full-time Repair Officer to join our Operations Team, based in Merthyr Tydfil. The successful and inclusive candidate will earn a favourable salary of £31,200 to £35,000 based on experience and potential. This is an ideal role for someone who has a proactive and positive mindset and a keen desire to grow professionally.

Joining an established team, the successful candidate is responsible for coordinating, monitoring and managing repairable assets from the initial receipt through to completion, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure repairs are completed efficiently, cost effectively and within agreed timescales.

Based at the GDLS facility in Merthyr Tydfil, you will report directly to the Service Delivery Manager and apply repair management principles and best practices to support timely delivery of materials and repaired assets. You will act as a central point of coordination between customers, suppliers, repair vendors and internal functions.

If you were already working in this position, this is what you would have been working on this week:

• Manage the end-to-end repair process for repairable assets and components
• Co-ordinate the receipt, assessment, repair and return of repairable items
• Raise and manage repair orders, quotation and associated documentation
• Liaise with customers, suppliers, repair vendors and internal stakeholders to monitor repair progress
• Maintain accurate records and reporting within relevant systems and databases
• Prepare and distribute repair status updates and management information
• Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce turnaround times and improve service delivery

To apply for this role, you will require the following:

• GCSE's or equivalent including English and Mathematics
• Relevant vocational qualification, apprenticeship, or equivalent experience in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration or Asset Management
• Experience in repair management, supply chain, logistics, inventory management or a similar operational role
• Strong organizational and coordinator skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Experience using ERP systems
• Proficiency in MS office applications, particularly Excel
• Experience of operating Oracle
• Experience of working in a MoD / UK Defence environment/systems
• Experience of working in the Customer Support / In-Service environment
• Current or previous UK Security Clearance
• Awareness of ITAR restrictions and Export Controls
