General Dynamics in St Leonards-on-Sea currently provide avionic mission computing systems for a wide range of military fast jets, helicopters, and UAV’s. Recent success has resulted in General Dynamics developing the next generation of Advanced High Performance, Safety Critical Mission Computer Systems to meet the needs of latest platforms in development by several aircraft manufacturers. These Mission Computing Systems provide the functionality that integrates aircraft systems, sensor systems and stores management systems with the information and control systems required by the aircrew to meet the demanding operational needs of these aircraft.
Job Description
We are hiringProject Manager & Senior Project Managers within our expandingAircraft Avionics team to lead multi-million pound contracts.
You will be required to manageall aspects of programme delivery to achieve business and customer targets. We are looking for PM\’s with high energy and integrity with a can-do attitude that doesn’t shy away from a challenge. If this is you them we’d love to hear from you.
You will be accountable for hitting our milestones and budgetary targets, leading multifunctional teams as we work to achieve the required technical and quality standards, while ensuring customer satisfaction. Work extremely closely with your project controller to develop and maintain a suite of detailed project schedules, management plans and fully own your ETCs, EACs and risks whilst ensuring delivery to time, to budget and to our customer contractual commitments.
Typical day to day tasks include (but not limited too):
- Manage and execute projects from Bid Phase, Production, Support Including Spares and Repairs and Disposal)
- Accountability for projects performance (schedule, milestones and financial metrics)
- Provide the primary point-of-contact for the customer. Communicate and liaise to keep them informed of work progress to schedule and discuss/resolve any issues arising.
- Identify and pursue follow on business opportunities for all company product areas
- For both follow-on and new business opportunities participate in pre-bid / bid stage discussions. Act as the Bid Manager to manage and co-ordinate the generation of cost estimates and proposal material. Organise and execute the key bid reviews,
Qualifications
For these roles, you should have a number of years’ experience working in a fast paced environment and a positive attitude towards innovation and problem-solving. You will also need:
- Programme/Project management experience gained within large, complex, multiple stakeholder projects – engineering, production & manufacturing practices and procedures would be preferred. Defence industry experience required for more senior positions.
- Customer facing experience coupled with excellent communication and negotiation skills, both written and verbal
- A deep understanding of programme management principles and techniques, including budget management, progress monitoring, risk and opportunity management and performance reporting.
- Proactive management and strong requirements and schedule adherence
Additional Information
Depending on experience these roles have starting salaries of between £51,000 and £85,000 plus our flexible benefits package.
We are open to this role being spent with time working from home and in the office (minimum 3 days in office) on a weekly basis or fully in our office in St Leonards-on-Sea.
Relocation assistance may be available for qualifying UK based applicants to move closer to our sites.
