General Dynamics in St Leonards-on-Sea provides avionic mission computing systems for a wide range of military fast jets, helicopters and UAVs. We are developing the next generation of Advanced High Performance, Safety Critical Mission Computer Systems to meet the needs of platforms in development by several aircraft manufacturers. These Mission Computing Systems integrate aircraft systems, sensor systems and stores management systems with the information and control systems required by the aircrew.
As a Senior High-Speed Signal Integrity Engineer, you will work within our avionics product development teams, developing a range of product solutions for new and advanced avionic platforms. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver cutting-edge solutions.
Responsibilities:- Signal Integrity Analysis: Perform detailed signal integrity analysis using simulation tools to identify and mitigate issues in high-speed digital and analog circuits.
- Design and Validation: Develop and validate signal integrity models and designs for PCBs, ICs, and interconnects.
- Testing and Measurement: Conduct signal integrity testing and measurements using advanced equipment and techniques.
- Documentation: Create comprehensive documentation of signal integrity analysis, design guidelines, and validation results.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or related field.
- In-depth understanding of electromagnetic theory, signal propagation, and high-speed digital/analog circuit design principles.
- Advanced proficiency in signal integrity simulation and modelling tools (e.g., Ansys HFSS, Keysight ADS, Cadence Sigrity, HyperLynx).
- Expertise in PCB layout and design for optimal signal integrity, including familiarity with tools like Allegro, Altium, or Mentor Graphics.
- Strong knowledge of transmission line theory, EMI/EMC, and PCB stack-up design.
- Experience with high-speed digital design (e.g., DDR, PCIe, USB, SerDes).
- Ability to analyze complex technical data, provide actionable insights, and create comprehensive documentation.
- Excellent collaborative skills and ability to mentor junior engineers.
Salary between £45,600 and £60,000 plus our flexible benefits package. Hybrid working arrangement (typically 3 days in the office) or fully in our offices; relocation assistance may be available for qualifying UK-based applicants. We offer a flexible and supportive environment with a range of benefits, including a compressed nine-day fortnight (every other Friday off) and career development plans.
