Position Overview: General Dynamics Land Systems, part of General Dynamics, is seeking an Electrical Power Hardware Engineer to lead the design, development, and integration of smart High and Low Voltage Electrical Power Storage and Power Management Hardware solutions. This role is essential in advancing our vision of providing transformational capabilities for our products.
The Electrical Power Hardware Senior/Lead Engineer - Batteries will play a critical role in:
- Analysing technical trade-offs
- Identifying architectures
- Determining primary hardware components
- Guiding critical enablers
- Collaborating with product management, customers, and suppliers
This role also involves defining and documenting requirements, executing design, analysis, development, and testing of Power Hardware, ensuring successful integration of High and Low Voltage Electrical Power Storage modules into vehicles.
Responsibilities:
- Lead hardware design delivery and subsystem integration activities across High and Low Voltage Electrical Power Storage domains
- Coordinate the development and documentation of component and subsystem requirements for Electrical Power subsystems
- Develop Electrical Power components to meet key performance and cost targets in collaboration with Product Engineering, Systems Engineering, Modeling, Analysis, Cost Engineering, Planning, and Program teams
- Conduct component trade studies to select optimized solutions for vehicle requirements of range, performance, reliability, and cost
- Develop Electrical Power component specifications to meet propulsion system requirements
- Ensure Electrification and Electrical Power subsystem functions and interfaces adhere to engineering standards for on-time, high-quality delivery
- Lead and support continuous process improvement, best practices, lessons learned, and quality improvement initiatives
- Provide technical leadership for issue resolution and technical direction
- Train, coach, and mentor team members
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electronics, or Mechanical Engineering (Master’s degree preferred)
- 10 years of experience with Electrical systems, including Propulsion and Power Generation, with a focus on High and Low Voltage Electrical Power Storage systems
- Working knowledge of embedded controls or electrical controls integration (architecture diagrams, designs, and implementation)
- PLM experience using TeamCenter; knowledge of Cameo and Capital Logic is advantageous
- Experience with data manipulation in 3D Modeling software
- Automotive or Heavy-Duty vehicle and/or powertrain experience required; Military/defense land vehicle experience preferred
- Excellent data analysis skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Proven skills in developing technical documents and oral communication
