NET Instructor (SCA) - UK

The Ajax Technical Training Advisor will leverage extensive New Equipment Training (NET) and fielding experience toobserve, assess, and adviseon British Army and GDLS‑UK training programs for the Ajax Family of Vehicles (FOV) and its variants, including AJAX, ARES, ATHENA, APOLLO, ATLAS, and ARGUS.

This position is not a primary instructor role. Instead, the Advisor works alongside British Army and GDLS‑UK training staff to identify potential enhancements, share U.S. best practices for embedded FSR and NET operations where appropriate, and support continuous improvement of existing training solutions. The role supports the British Army and GDLS‑UK by helping to build confidence, competence, and sustainment capability on the new Ajax platforms, while maintaining a highly diplomatic, politically astute, and culturally sensitive approach as a U.S. representative.

Responsibilities to Anticipate

• Observe and assessBritish Army and GDLS‑UK operator and maintainer training events on Ajax FOV platforms, including classroom, simulator, and hands‑on activities.
• Evaluate training content, delivery methods, sequencing, and assessment practices against program requirements, fielding objectives, and applicable U.S. NET/embedded asset best practices.
• Identify strengths, gaps, and opportunities for refinement in existing training programs, focusing on safety, operational confidence, and long‑term maintainability of Ajax platforms.
• Develop measured, evidence‑based recommendations for potential improvements to training content, methods, and supporting materials.
• Present observations and recommendations in a collaborative, non‑prescriptive manner that emphasizes partnership, shared objectives, and respect for British Army and GDLS‑UK ownership of their training systems.
• Support British Army and GDLS‑UK stakeholders in prioritizing and sequencing training improvements to align with program timelines, resources, and operational demands.
• Facilitate two‑way knowledge exchange by sharing relevant U.S. NET and embedded support practices while actively incorporating British Army and GDLS‑UK perspectives, constraints, and lessons learned.
• Coordinate closely with Ajax C23/C24 FSRs, GDLS‑US and GDLS‑UK training leads, engineering, and logistics teams to ensure training recommendations are technically accurate and aligned with field realities.
• Produce clear, objective, and diplomatically worded reports and briefings summarizing observations, analysis, and recommended actions for internal GDLS‑US and GDLS‑UK stakeholders.
• Maintain strict adherence to information‑sharing protocols, ensuring sensitive feedback is routed through appropriate channels and framed constructively.
• Represent General Dynamics Land Systems as a professional, balanced U.S. representative in a foreign military environment, exercising exceptional judgment, discretion, and cultural awareness.
• Abide by local customs, laws, and operational protocols within the UK and other deployment environments, while complying with all GDLS, GDLS‑UK, and British Army policies, safety standards, and security requirements.

Qualifications Sought:

• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experiencein New Equipment Training (NET), fielding, or advanced maintenance support for complex tracked combat vehicles or armored systems, preferably within GDLS or equivalent defense environments.
• Significant experience serving as an operator, maintainer, FSR, NET lead, or equivalenton major combat vehicle platforms or programs, with a proven ability to integrate field feedback into training and sustainment solutions.
• Demonstrated expertise in evaluating training programs, identifying gaps, and proposing practical, achievable improvements based on operational and sustainment needs.
• Deep technical understanding of modern tracked or heavy armored vehicles; direct experience with Ajax FOV or similar reconnaissance/IFV platforms is highly desirable.
• Proven track record of providing embedded technical or training support in operational environments, with experience supporting joint or multinational military platforms strongly preferred.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrated ability to deliver sensitive feedback in a measured, constructive, and politically aware manner to diverse audiences, including foreign military leadership.
• Strong familiarity with British Army operational procedures, training practices, maintenance doctrines, and sustainment environments is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated diplomatic acumen, cultural sensitivity, and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with British Army personnel, GDLS‑UK staff, and international partners in high‑visibility, high‑scrutiny environments.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a joint US‑UK team in dynamic, often austere field environments, while exercising sound judgment and discretion.
• Eligible to obtain and maintain necessary security clearances, visas, and visitor access badges for UK military posts and other overseas locations, as required.
• Willingness and physical ability to travel extensively and deploy to various operational theaters, including UK and other OCONUS locations.
• Demonstrated adaptability, resilience, and commitment to long‑term relationship building within multinational and cross‑cultural teams.

Additional Information / Desired Experience

• This role is focused onobservation, assessment, and advisory support, not primary instruction, and is central to a highly scrutinized, strategically important US‑UK Ajax program.
• U.S. NET and embedded FSR practices will be selectively adapted and shared to support British Army and GDLS‑UK training and sustainment objectives while respecting existing UK systems and authorities.
• Success in this position requires a unique blend oftechnical credibility, training program insight, and diplomatic skill, ensuring that recommendations strengthen, rather than disrupt, current British Army and GDLS‑UK training solutions.
• Candidates should expect to operate in both office and field environments, attend training events and reviews on British Army installations, and support program reviews, working groups, and after‑action activities as required.
