Provide Project Management by leading process Improvement Initiatives for the Mechanical Design & Engineering Team for the Lead Yard Services contract. Support day-to-day operations in alignment with the Business Operating System, this includes Metrics, data visualization, and supporting the leadership team in monitoring and acting on key performance indicators (KPI) as necessary.
Provide organization and project management, based on KPI assessment, helping execute action plans for the team to shape and track organizational goals. This includes utilizing the Plan-Do-Check-Act methodology, including researching and generating A3’s to determine root cause effects. Work independently and as part of the team to remove obstacles that are preventing the team from achieving their goals. Intervene as requested to support these projects and initiatives. Continuously work with the teams to improve and enhance our interface with other areas of the business including (but not limited to), Engineering, Planning, and Manufacturing downstream customers. Support our ongoing training efforts, including scheduling, budgeting, and management of critical objectives.
Required/Preferred Education/Training
- Bachelor’s or Associates degree in a business or technical field, and/or 5 years of experience in an Engineering/Design field or Manufacturing Supervision.
- Graduate of BIW's Apprenticeship/Development Program(s) preferred.
Required/Preferred Experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
- Solid understanding of mechanical shipbuilding processes, CAD design, Engineering, and Planning preferred.
- Working knowledge of EVMS principles preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise and effectiveness with the Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Access, and Word.
- Working knowledge of Project Management with a basic understanding of Configuration Management.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
- Candidate with strong engineering background, or mechanical aptitude preferred.
- Highly motivated, strong attention to detail and the proven ability to take the initiative when required.
