In this unique role, you will have extensive exposure to our Navy customer, our exciting ships, and the value chain that makes it all happen.
The role's core responsibilities include:
- Assist the LYS Program Manager in resolving any customer concerns or programmatic issues, contractual matters, or cross-departmental issues related to Class Standard Equipment (CSE).
- Manage the DDG 51 CSE Engineering Change Proposal (ECP) process, ensuring each ECP is processed in accordance with established procedures and timelines.
- Develop and monitor CSE performance metrics to ensure a high level of quality and performance.
- Review CSE performance, identify variances, issues, identify causes, and recommend action to correct unfavorable trends.
- Provide programmatic leadership and oversight for the DDG 51 Class Lead Yard Support (LYS), Engineering, and Design processes and products.
- Drive rapid resolution of emergent internal and external customer issues.
- Provide direct interface with Navy Program Office (PMS400D), Supervisor of Shipbuilding (Bath and Gulf Coast), Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII), and other DDG 51 Stakeholders on LYS related issues in assigned areas of responsibility.
- Prepare CSE related presentation material and present to the Navy.
- Provide guidance to Engineering CSE Project Coordinators, supply chain specialists, and engineers for the execution of CSE ECPs.
- Develop and implement change process improvements.
- Lead the program implementation of the Business Operating System to successfully execute the CSE ECP process.
Required/Preferred Education/Training
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business or other Technical field, or equivalent combination of education and experience with demonstrated experience working in an analytical capacity required.
- Project Management Professional certification with related Project Management experience.
- Project Manager – Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM).
- Sr. Project Manager – Project Management Professional (PMP).
Required/Preferred Experience
- Demonstrated management, project coordination, and leadership skills required.
- Strong written, oral communications, and organizational skills required.
- Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office products required.
- Ability and willingness to work in, and promote a true team environment.
- Successful experience in implementing and monitoring continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety, improve quality, reduce cycle time, and reduce costs.
- Minimum 2 years (Project Manager) or 5 years (Sr. Project Manager) experience and working knowledge in one or more of the following areas: Change Management Processes, Procurement Processes, Systems Engineering Processes.
Additional Required skills and experience:
- Excellent analytical skills.
- Above average Excel and/or Access ability.
- Must be able to read and understand drawings and other technical, financial, and contractual documentation.
- Occasional travel required.
Additional Preferred skills and experience:
- Manufacturing or ship design experience is highly desired.
- Experience with oversight of a multi-functional process (including handoffs between organizations).
This position requires you to be able to obtain a government security clearance. You must be a US Citizen for consideration and you must be able to obtain an interim security clearance within the first 45 days of hire.
