The General Dental Council (GDC) have an exciting opportunity for a Stakeholder and Communications Manager to join us on a full-time, 12 month contract. This role is Hybrid (2 days per week spent working from the GDC's office in London). Salary: £49,528 - £58,268.

About us: The Dental Complaints Service (DCS) are a team of trained advisors who aim to help private dental patients and dental professionals settle complaints about private dental care fairly and efficiently. We provide a free and impartial service funded by the General Dental Council, the organisation that regulates dental professionals in the UK.

About the Stakeholder and Communications Manager role: Opportunity for an experienced Stakeholder and Communications Manager to play a key role delivering a wide range of communications and engagement activities that support the General Dental Council's purpose of ensuring patient safety and public confidence in dental professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Influencing the perception of the General Dental Council with our key external stakeholders, including patient and public interest groups, dental professionals, education providers, government officials across the UK and professional representative bodies.
  • Developing effective relationships with key stakeholders and organisations to influence perceptions and build interest and support.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues to plan, co-ordinate and deliver engagement activities and communication products that engage our external audiences.
  • Acting as a communications and engagement lead for corporate projects.
  • Proactively briefing senior colleagues for external and stakeholder meetings.
  • Working alongside the Head of Nations and Engagement, Associate Director Communications and Engagement, and other senior colleagues to develop and deliver the communications and engagement strategy and plan.
  • Developing communications content, including briefing documents, newsletters, website, social media and presentations.
  • Arranging and facilitating stakeholder meetings and events.

Person Specification:

You will be able to demonstrate experience of building effective working relationships with a wide range of external stakeholders to influence perceptions and build support. You will have experience of creating communications content for a range of channels, including presentations, digital and social media. Experience and knowledge of UK political processes and public affairs, or experience of working within a healthcare or public sector organisation, regulatory body or related field, is equally important.
