Location: Birmingham – Hybrid (minimum 2 days in office).

Contract: Fixed term contract - 12 months.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Reward Consultant to join our People and Organisational Development team. Reporting into the Associate Director of People Services, Learning and Organisational Development you will be joining the GDC at an important and exciting time as the organisation and the regulatory environment in which we operate undergoes ongoing transformational change. Whilst our role in public protection remains unchanged, the future plans we are developing recognise that we must continue to modernise and improve.

Areas of responsibility:

  • Lead a significant Total Reward Project encompassing pay and reward and benefits (including new portal).
  • Technical know-how to support with costings, modelling and business case production.
  • Relationship and contract management with external consultants.
  • Develop options and recommendations and influence/challenge key stakeholders whilst managing relationships.
  • Write and present board papers to ELT, Committees and full council.
  • Develop plans with project teams and POD function, and manage effective implementation considering resources.
  • Develop new policies as appropriate.
  • Deliver the total reward project to successful conclusion - to time, budget and benefit.
  • Plan and play a leading role in consultation, should this be required, and colleague engagement with People Partners, Line Managers and Senior Leadership.

About you:

  • Experienced in leading and implementing new arrangements for reward, grading and benefits.
  • Technical experience regarding compensation processes, including survey participation, job evaluation, salary structure development, base pay administration, pay reviews, external benchmarking benefits planning and programs including health and welfare, employee discounts, retirement, and work life etc.
  • Selection and management of outsourced providers through, ideally, public sector procurement.
  • Demonstrable experience of implementing change regarding reward and benefits and undertaking effective consultation.
  • MCIPD/FCIPD or equivalent regarding reward, compensation, and benefits.
  • Significant knowledge of Equality, Diversity & Inclusion in the context of the role - including equality impact assessments, equal pay and pay gaps.
  • Able to write and present papers and recommendations to senior leaders and council.
  • Ability to communicate complex and technical reward solutions to diverse audiences at all levels (written and oral).
  • Organised and able to manage and deliver a broad portfolio of activities.
  • Ability to understand and interpret legislation and complex information.
