Join the Hearings Committee Secretary role at General Dental Council.
Location & Contract: London - Hybrid. 12‐month fixed term. Full‐time, 40 hours.
Pay: Base pay range (actual pay based on skills and experience).
Responsibilities
- Sit as Committee Secretary in hearings, support procedural advice to Chair, members, legal adviser, parties, witnesses.
- Summarise cases and prepare draft determinations reflecting decisions and reasons.
- Resolve problems arising during a hearing and keep cases on track.
- Ensure administrative procedures comply with GDC rules.
- Decide on and arrange payment of fees due to Chair and members.
- Examine legal information and evaluate case bundles before commencement.
- Respond to enquiries and make decisions on behalf of Head of Hearings or deputy.
Qualifications
- In‐depth knowledge and understanding of professional regulation, hearings and/or legal or adjudicatory processes.
- Experience as a Committee/Panel Secretary drafting decisions, not just minutes.
- Work well in a high‐pressure public hearing environment.
- Proficient in determination writing under tight time constraints.
- Well‐developed interpersonal skills for a formal public tribunal setting.
