Key Purpose of Role: General Atlantic Actis is seeking an IT Lead for the EMEA region. This is a newly created position and the first dedicated IT hire based in London, offering a rare opportunity to play a key role in the integration of two global investment firms. The successful candidate will have a strong application development and full-stack background who is comfortable operating in a broad, hands-on role. Working closely with the Head of Application Development in New York, the role will focus on owning Actis-specific applications, rationalising bespoke tools, and supporting the technology harmonization between the two firms, inclusive of responsibility for end-user IT support across EMEA. This is an ideal opportunity for a candidate who is looking to amplify their influence and move into an agile, high-impact environment with greater ownership and visibility.
Key Responsibilities (this list is not exhaustive):
- Act as the IT and Applications lead for Actis across the EMEA and Asia regions.
- Report directly to the Head of Application Development, partnering closely on integration and transition initiatives with dotted line accountability to the Head of Data Engineering and Head of End User Support.
- Conform Actis’ Software Development Lifecycle process to align with GA standards.
- Own and support all Actis-specific applications, including bespoke and internally developed tools.
- Work with global IT leadership to review and rationalise existing applications and platforms.
- Lead the transition and evolution of systems as Actis integrates with General Atlantic.
- Reduce complexity and technical debt where appropriate.
- Increase observability, reliability and resilience across the platform.
- Provide hands-on technical support and oversight across application support and enhancements.
- Manage and coordinate two London-based IT support consultants and an outsourced IT support team in Delhi, India.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for complex technical and application-related issues.
- Support onboarding, offboarding, and day-to-day technology needs of investment and business teams.
- Partner with stakeholders at multiple levels to understand business needs and translate them into practical technical solutions.
- Ensure alignment with global security, compliance, and governance standards.
Knowledge:
- 6-10 years of experience in IT or application development roles combined with technology operations.
- Strong background in application development with exposure to full-stack technologies (e.g., modern web frameworks such as Angular and React, Restful APIs, databases, etc.) and CI/CD toolsets.
- Experience owning and supporting bespoke or internally developed applications.
- Prior experience working in FinTech, Capital Markets, Credit or Investment companies strongly preferred; Investment Management, Private Equity or Hedge Fund technology experience an advantage.
- Experience managing local IT support resources and outsourced or offshore technology teams.
- Comfortable balancing hands-on technical work with people and vendor management.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to simplify and rationalise complex systems.
- Excellent communication skills and confidence working with stakeholders at all levels across geographies.
- Experience supporting technology integration or system transitions following mergers or partnerships an advantage.
- Exposure to cloud platforms, DevOps practices, and modern application architectures.
- Understanding of information security, data protection, and access controls in regulated environments.
- High level of integrity and attention to detail.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
