We are looking for a BESS Field Service Manager who will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership, performance, and delivery of all Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) field service activity across Pramac Generac UK & Ireland. Reporting to the BESS Technical Manager, the role ensures that BESS service operations are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest technical and customer standards. The role has accountability for field engineers, service partners, and on-site execution, ensuring that commissioning, maintenance, reactive service, and upgrades are completed in line with technical standards and customer expectations. The role acts as the operational bridge between technical excellence and field delivery, working closely with Sales, Operations, and Aftersales to ensure a consistent, right-first-time BESS service experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • BESS Field Service Leadership
    • Lead, manage, and develop the BESS Field Service team, including employed engineers and service partners.
    • Ensure all BESS field service activities are delivered in line with defined technical standards and procedures.
    • Drive a strong culture of safety, quality, accountability, and customer focus across field operations.
    • Support the BESS Technical Manager in building scalable and resilient field service capability.
  • Service Delivery & Operational Performance
    • Plan, schedule, and manage BESS field service activity including: Commissioning and system handover, Planned maintenance and inspections, Reactive breakdown support, Upgrades, modifications, and corrective works.
    • Ensure service response times, fix rates, and customer commitments are consistently achieved.
    • Monitor engineer utilisation, productivity, and workload balance.
  • Customer & Site Engagement
    • Act as a senior operational point of contact for customers during on-site BESS service activity.
    • Attend customer sites to support complex or critical service interventions.
    • Ensure high standards of professionalism and communication on customer sites.
    • Support issue resolution and escalation in conjunction with the BESS Technical Manager.
  • Service Partner & Subcontractor Management
    • Manage and coordinate BESS service partners and subcontractors.
    • Ensure partners are trained, accredited, and compliant with Pramac Generac standards.
    • Monitor partner performance and take corrective action where required.
    • Support the expansion of the BESS service partner network as demand grows.
  • Health, Safety & Compliance
    • Ensure all BESS field service activity complies with health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
    • Enforce safe systems of work, RAMS, and site-specific safety procedures.
    • Support incident investigation, near-miss reporting, and corrective actions.
    • Promote a strong safety-first culture across all BESS field operations.
  • Continuous Improvement & Reporting
    • Track and report BESS field service KPIs including: Response times and attendance, First-time fix and repeat visits, Customer satisfaction, Engineer utilisation and productivity.
    • Identify opportunities to improve service efficiency, quality, and customer experience.
    • Provide structured feedback from the field to support product, process, and technical improvements.

Skills, Experience & Attributes

    • Strong understanding of BESS or complex electrical systems.
    • Experience delivering commissioning, maintenance, and reactive service in live site environments.
    • Strong working knowledge of health, safety, and compliance in field-based operations.
    • Ability to plan, prioritise, and manage multiple service activities concurrently.
  • Desirable
    • Experience working within energy storage, grid-connected systems, or renewable technologies.
    • Experience managing service partners or subcontracted service models.
    • Exposure to service KPIs, scheduling tools, and service management systems.
    • Understanding of UK & Ireland regulatory and safety requirements relating to BESS.
