We’re looking for an experienced backend or data engineer, working on some key technologies within our platform.
Since its launch in 2018, Gener8 has been at the forefront of the “open data” movement: the belief that people should be able to control and be rewarded from their own data. Gener8’s consumer products include IOS and Android apps, a web browser and a browser extension. Our products enable people to transparently share their data with Gener8, whilst preserving their privacy, and to earn rewards in return for doing this. Today we’re operating in the UK & USA and will be launching in multiple new countries in early 2026.
On the B2B side, the data products that Gener8 creates enables businesses to make faster, smarter decisions. Our customers include some of the world’s largest Big Tech companies, leading AI companies and prominent organisations in finance and ad tech.
The primary focus of the contract will be to lead on extending, improving & maintaining an e-Receipts data pipeline that extracts purchase data from emails and transforms it into structured data. In addition, you may be asked to support on creating new & supporting existing data feeds for our commercial partners that deliver valuable data to drive business decisions.
You’ll be working closely with our existing product and engineering team, including Staff backend engineer and Head of Engineering. For these data feeds & pipelines we use a combination of:
- Golang RESTful and gRPC APIs running on Kubernetes
- BigQuery for data warehousing
- A combination of DBT & Airflow for data transformation & delivery
- All hosted on GCP
- In addition to leveraging 3rd Party LLMs for complex data processing
This is the right opportunity for you if you are:
- 5+ years commercial experience working directly with large datasets
- Very proficient with some flavour of SQL for data persistence
- Experienced working on Data Pipelines & feeds
- Familiar with DBT and Airflow
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
