Job Purpose

We are an exceptionally fast‑growing professional services focused company, with over 100% increase in headcount over the previous 12 months, and ambitious plans to continue with this growth. Our success is built on our people and culture is key and whilst we have made significant advances and investment in HRIS, benefits and reward, there is still more we want to do, and therefore we need the very best People Director to enable this. You\’ll be passionate about our team ensuring they have the infrastructure, support and guidance to grow as we grow in an environment that is safe, supportive and understanding.

This is a challenging but exciting opportunity and requires someone with an absolute ambition to build on the transformation to date and enhance business performance through our people. The People Director will oversee all aspects of People Management and ensure that we do not just robustly comply with our obligations but develop and nurture a different DNA that drives our success.

The People Director is the people lead within Constellia, providing strategic and operational leadership across all aspects of HR. This role will be pivotal in shaping the people strategy to align with the company\’s growth ambitions, driving cultural transformation, and fostering an environment of collaboration, inclusivity, and innovation. The People Director will work closely with the leadership team to implement initiatives (hands on execution is a key part of the role) that enhance employee engagement, build organisational capability, and embed the company’s values into all aspects of business operations.

You\’ll have a team (part‑time talent and HR Admin support) that we anticipate will grow aligned to our business growth.

Main Duties And Responsibilities Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and implement the HR strategy that builds on the success and progress to date, that supports the company’s growth, aligns with its vision, and enhances organisational culture.
  • As part of the senior leadership team, provide insights and recommendations on people‑related matters to drive business performance.
  • Lead cultural transformation initiatives, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and values while fostering employee engagement and collaboration.
  • Embed innovative solutions to support and drive our commitment to be a recognised leader in fostering employee growth, a positive and inclusive culture as well as offering attractive benefits that attract and retain top talent.

Operational Excellence

  • Oversee all aspects of HR operations, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and alignment with best practices.
  • Oversee talent acquisition and onboarding processes, including designing recruitment strategies and delivering impactful inductions.
  • Ensure HR systems and processes are scalable and continuously improved as the company grows, ensuring accurate data management that leverages insights to inform decision‑making.

Employee Engagement, Development & Wellbeing

  • Design and deliver the Employee Value Proposition including initiatives to enhance employee engagement, well‑being, and retention.
  • Lead on the development and implementation of performance management processes, ensuring a focus on employee growth and organisational success.
  • Partner with managers to provide coaching and support in managing performance, absence, and employee relations effectively.
  • Think outside the box regarding employee benefits to offer innovative and competitive advantages.

Policy Development & Compliance

  • Ensure all HR policies and procedures are up to date, compliant with legislation, and effectively communicated across the business.
  • Provide expert advice on complex employee relations issues, ensuring fair and consistent outcomes.
  • Embed a robust risk management framework within HR policies and practices.

Payroll & Reporting

  • Oversee payroll processes in collaboration with the Finance team, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Deliver regular HR reports to senior leadership, providing insights into key metrics such as turnover, engagement and diversity.

Continuous Improvement

  • Lead initiatives to improve HR systems, processes, and policies, ensuring they remain fit for purpose as the company scales.
  • Stay informed on HR trends and legislation, ensuring the organisation remains ahead of industry best practices.

Qualifications Essential

  • GCSE Maths and English level 4 or above (or equivalent)
  • CIPD Level 5 or working towards (or equivalent experience)

Desirable

  • Degree qualification of equivalent

Skills And Experience

  • Evidence of continued professional development, with a focus on leadership, organisational development, or cultural transformation.
  • Significant experience in a senior HR role, ideally within a fast‑growing SME or dynamic organisation.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic HR initiatives that align with business goals.
  • Proven track record in driving and embedding cultural transformation, employee engagement, and change management initiatives.
  • Extensive experience in providing expert advice on HR policies, procedures, and complex employee relations matters.
