Location: Manchester (M13 9XX) with frequent UK and international travel
Full-time, permanent position with a salary of £35,000 - £45,000 per annum, depending on experience. Benefits include private healthcare, discretionary bonus, share option scheme, pension, income protection, death in service benefit, and 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
You must hold a full clean driving licence, be eligible for international travel, and successfully pass an Enhanced DBS check.
As a Field Engineer, you will provide engineering support for Genedrive products at customer sites, delivering servicing, maintenance, repair, commissioning, and technical support activities across the company's medical device portfolio. You will play a key role in ensuring products consistently meet customer requirements and company standards while acting as a professional ambassador for the Genedrive brand.
This position combines extensive customer-facing field work with periods of office-based activity at the company's Manchester headquarters. Travel requirements may vary significantly, including periods of extensive national and international travel.
- Troubleshoot Genedrive medical devices both remotely and on customer sites.
- Diagnose hardware and software issues and implement corrective actions.
- Commission and decommission medical devices within NHS and international healthcare environments.
- Carry out subsystem-level fault-finding using technical documentation and electronic schematics.
- Perform system maintenance, repairs, and software or hardware updates.
- Provide technical support and site preparation assistance to the commercial team.
- Act as the subject matter expert for Genedrive hardware and software operation.
- Prepare repair, maintenance, and rework instructions.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date service documentation.
- Manage customer visits in line with agreed service level agreements.
- Liaise with engineering, commercial, service teams, and customers.
- Support manufacturing activities when required.
Minimum of 5 years' experience in a Field Engineer or Service Technician role working with electronic devices. Proven experience troubleshooting electronic systems using software tools and log files. Experience interpreting engineering drawings and carrying out fault-finding activities. Strong troubleshooting skills using technical documentation and software logs. Ability to troubleshoot equipment both in person and remotely. Eligibility for international travel across Europe, the Middle East, and the USA. Relevant qualifications supporting your engineering experience. Full clean driving licence.
Experience with technologies including Bluetooth, IP networks, SFTP configuration, Wi-Fi configuration, Windows command-line tools, POCT1-A/HL7 integration, Android OS, Android debug mode, Android OS updates, and BIOS configuration. City & Guilds 2377 qualification or equivalent PAT testing certification. Experience within the medical device or in vitro diagnostics sector.
