Reports To: Regional General Manager – EMEA

Position Overview:

The Field Service Manager will support the field service operations across multiple regions. The role involves leading a team of engineers in the EMEA region directly, ensuring timely and efficient installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of our products, and providing leadership in customer support initiatives. This position requires a high level of technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to manage a diverse team. Responsibilities include: service process development & testing, training, technical support & troubleshooting, repairs & refurbishment, documentation, tracking & reporting metrics, and project management aspects including planning & scoping.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Leadership and Team Management:
  • Manage, mentor, and develop the EMEA field service engineer team, ensuring that they have the resources, training, and support needed to perform at their best.
  • Support the global field service engineer team, ensuring that they have the resources and training to perform at their best.
  • Develop and implement performance metrics to measure the effectiveness of EMEA field service activities, ensuring continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Oversee the installation, repair, and preventive maintenance of medical devices in EMEA, ensuring compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage escalations and resolve complex technical issues, working with cross-functional teams to provide timely solutions.
  • Collaborate with other departments (R&D, Quality, Regulatory) to ensure service readiness for new product launches and upgrades, including training and compliance in accordance with all relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Drive initiatives to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and optimize service delivery processes.
  • Act as the point of contact for any critical service issues and work closely with customers to ensure expectations are met.
  • Gather feedback from customers to inform product development and continuous service improvements.
  • Work closely with regional teams around the world to ensure customer complaint management, including use of associated systems (e.g. Odoo, JIRA etc.).
  • Budget and Resource Management:
    • Manage the regional field service budget, ensuring that resources are allocated efficiently and in line with business priorities.
    • Coordinate with Supply Chain on procurement of necessary tools, equipment, and spares required for field service operations.

    Qualifications and Skills:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
    • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in field service management, preferably in the medical device industry.
    • Proven experience managing a global or cross-country team and executing strategic initiatives.
    • Strong technical background with expertise in medical device maintenance, troubleshooting, and installation.
    • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities.
    • Willingness to travel within the EMEA region as required.
    • Knowledge of relevant regulatory standards and certifications (e.g., ISO, FDA, ISO13485 etc.).
    • Proficiency in service management software and other relevant IT tools.
