About Gendo

Gendo is a revolutionary, browser-based AI platform designed for architects and designers, enabling them to generate accurate, high-quality visual representations of their designs in seconds rather than days. After a successful beta phase with renowned architectural firms such as Zaha Hadid Architects, Benoy, KPF, and David Chipperfield Architects, we have secured substantial seed-stage funding.

Role Overview

We are looking for a talented Engineering Manager to take on the day-to-day responsibilities of running our product engineering team, both in a technical leadership capacity and as a delivery manager (running sprints, delegating work streams, elaborating technical work and translating product requirements into technical designs). We imagine that this role will start with a blend of 25% hands-on development, and the rest of the time spent orchestrating the work of the engineering team and line managing a small group of engineers.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Managing the day-to-day delivery of our engineering team, working closely with our CTO, Lead Developer and Product Manager.
  2. Coaching the team to learn and apply engineering best practices: anything from database schemas and CI/CD to API design and security principles.
  3. Line managing 3 or 4 software engineers.
  4. Continuing to form and grow our engineering team: hire and onboard new engineers, and support team members to follow their own professional development goals.
  5. Contributing to the codebase as required, particularly when certain features align well with your previous experience.
  6. Helping define the future of our engineering culture as the team continues to grow, and making sure that our company values are continually instilled and upheld.
  7. Ensuring efficient collaboration with Product and Commercial colleagues, and identifying and managing technical and organisational dependencies.

Requirements

  1. Strong technical architecture design skills.
  2. 5+ years of hands-on software development experience in designing and implementing production-grade applications.
  3. People management skills – providing one-on-ones, resolving conflicts, creating career development plans, mentoring and growing engineers, providing and receiving feedback.
  4. Extensive knowledge of engineering practices and agile methodologies.

It would be a bonus for you to have:

  1. Experience working with ML models and/or an understanding of MLOps and how to maintain machine learning models in production.
  2. Experience working on data warehouses and pipelines.
  3. Hands-on experience with DevOps tools and practices.
  4. Full-stack development experience.
  5. (Extra bonus!) Experience or familiarity with CAD or 3D modelling software (e.g. Blender, 3DS Max)

Why join Gendo?

  1. Be a key player in driving the growth of a groundbreaking AI platform that is reshaping the architecture and design industry.
  2. Collaborate with leading architects and designers from top firms like Zaha Hadid Architects and David Chipperfield Architects.
  3. Hybrid work environment with the flexibility to be based in either our Bristol or London office, allowing you to balance work and life effectively.
  4. Work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where your ideas and initiatives are valued.
  5. Competitive compensation package, including performance-based incentives and equity options.

What we offer

This is a full time position, during which you’ll spend 3 days a week in either our London or Bristol office, and 2 days a week working remotely from home (in the UK).

  1. Stock options; we firmly believe that you should share our future successes with ownership in the company.
  2. 25 days holiday, plus a day off during your birthday week.
  3. Private medical, dental and vision insurance.
  4. Flexible well-being allowance (e.g. gym membership)
  5. Frequent company socials and events
