Apprenticeships Available:

  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant
  • Level 3 Early Years Educator
  • Level 2 Early Years Practitioner

Apprenticeship Duration:

  • Level 3 programmes: Around 18 months + EPA
  • Level 2 programme: Around 12 months + EPA

Where will I train?

You’ll work with an employer from day one and attend Gen2 training sessions two days per month at one of our centres in:

  • Workington
  • Carlisle
  • Furness

Plus, a Gen2 assessor will visit your workplace to check your progress and support your development.

What will I learn?

You’ll cover important topics through both classroom and on-the-job training, including:

  • Safeguarding and keeping children safe
  • Child development and understanding how young learners grow
  • Health & safety
  • Working as a team
  • Communication & collaboration
  • Promoting equality and inclusion
  • Reflective practice and personal growth

You’ll also build a portfolio of your work, take part in regular observations, and have professional discussions with your Gen2 assessor. You must have (or be willing to work towards) Level 2 Maths and English before you finish the apprenticeship. Some flexibility applies depending on your age and the course level.

Qualifications: Each employer will set their own minimum criteria in line with the requirements for the apprenticeship standard. Generally, most will be looking for candidates to have a minimum of GCSE Grade 4 (Grade C) in Maths and English. Functional Skills Level 2 will also be considered as equivalent to GCSE Grade 4 (Grade C).
