About Us
We’re the Product Design team at Gen. We work on the world’s best digital security products – including Norton, Avast and AVG. Our family of brands harness the latest technology to create cybersecurity, identity protection and online privacy products that are chosen and trusted by hundreds of millions of users around the world.
As a leader within the Design System team, you will drive the creation and evolution of Gen’s multi‑brand, platform‑agnostic design system, aligning to Gen’s design principles and accessibility standards. You will help set the bar for design quality and innovation across the organisation. This role requires a systematic approach to solution design, combined with strong product design skills, a strong sense of aesthetic, a passion for complex problem solving, experience with the latest accessibility standards, and outstanding leadership and interpersonal skills.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Evolving and scaling Gen’s product design language to create a modern user experience that aligns with each of Gen’s brand identities.
- Partnering with engineering counterparts to establish how we successfully create and maintain a token architecture to meet the specific needs of each of our brands.
- Leading design craft critiques and reviews to drive and elevate design quality across the organisation, and being hands‑on when needed to articulate ideas and concepts.
- Continuously conducting end‑to‑end audits of our UI, visuals and design system, coming up with designs to solve discrepancies and push the visual design system forward while considering each brand and Mac, iOS, Android, Windows design guidelines.
- Building successful engagement models that empower product teams to contribute back to the design system.
- Staying up to date with industry standards, emerging technologies and design system best practices to continuously enhance the design system.
- Advocating and socialising the benefits and importance of a robust design system with partners and senior leaders.
About You
- 8+ years of experience working in user experience, product, or relevant design field.
- 4+ years’ experience working in an explicit design systems role.
- Exceptional design craft with a strong portfolio in visual interface design, showcasing expertise in scaling visual and motion design concepts across different applications and platforms.
- Solid knowledge of the foundations of engineering principles for best practices with design systems and tokenization.
- Expertise in creating clean, modern UI systems and attention to detail.
- Passionate and effective advocate for design with non‑design audiences.
- Data‑driven approach to design decision‑making to best serve customers.
- Ability to consider technical opportunities while balancing implementation cost and long‑term maintenance.
- Experience working with content designers, motion designers, illustrators, UX, UI, growth and product designers, engineers, and product managers.
