Protective Coating Specialist Craigavon Permanent + Benefits We are currently seeking an experienced Protective Coating Specialist for our client based in Craigavon, to lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of our surface preparation, coating application, and coating repair activities across our manufacturing and project sites.
This is a highly visible technical leadership position that will serve as the companys subject matter expert for all aspects of corrosion protection, surface preparation, coating systems, inspection, and repair methodologies.
The successful candidate will take ownership of improving coating quality standards, reducing rework, and ensuring coating repairs and touch-up activities are consistently executed in accordance with project specifications, manufacturer recommendations, and applicable industry standards.
Act as the company's recognised technical authority for corrosion protection, coating systems, surface preparation, and coating repairs.
Develop, implement, and maintain company standards, procedures, work instructions, and best-practice guidance relating to coating application, repair, and inspection activities.
Provide technical guidance on coating selection, specification development, and corrosion protection strategies for a range of operating environments.
Review and approve repair methodologies for damaged coatings and non-conforming work.
Training & Workforce Development Design and deliver practical and classroom-based training programmes for painters, coating technicians, inspectors, supervisors, and quality personnel.
Coating and Corrosion Technical Authority Develop competency assessment frameworks to verify understanding and application of coating repair techniques.
Coach and mentor operational personnel to improve workmanship standards and promote a right-first-time culture.
Work closely with site leadership teams to identify capability gaps and implement targeted development plans.
Provide hands-on support during implementation of new coating systems, procedures, or technologies.
Essential Demonstrable experience in industrial coatings, corrosion protection, coating inspection, or a related discipline.
Strong working knowledge of ISO 12944, ISO 8501, ISO 8502, ISO 8503 and other relevant coating and surface preparation standards.
Experience developing coating specifications, repair procedures, and quality assurance processes.
Proven ability to deliver training, coaching, and competency development programmes within an industrial environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence personnel at all levels of the organisation.
Strong problem-solving and root cause investigation capabilities.
Experience within the pipeline, energy, oil & gas, offshore, fabrication, or heavy engineering sectors.
