Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate manual milling machines and manual lathes
- Manufacture and machine components to required specifications and tolerances
- Read and accurately interpret engineering and technical drawings
- Select appropriate tooling, speeds, feeds and machining methods
- Carry out turning, milling, drilling, boring and other machining operations as required
- Measure finished components using appropriate precision measuring equipment
- Inspect own work to ensure dimensional accuracy and quality standards
Essential Criteria
- Previous experience working as a Manual Machinist, Miller, Turner or Toolmaker
- Strong practical experience operating manual mills and lathes
- Ability to set and operate machines independently
- Ability to read and work accurately from engineering drawings
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable
- Time-served machinist or relevant engineering qualification
- Experience within a precision engineering or manufacturing environment
- Experience machining both one-off and small-batch components
- CNC machining experience would be advantageous but is not essential
