F/T Permanent Software Engineer required for Hillsborough.

The successful candidate will work across the company's application stack, primarily using C#/.NET (MVC), TypeScript, SQL, and Azure, to design, build, and maintain features that support credential workflows, document automation, and integrations with external systems. You will join a small, focused team where clarity, pragmatism, and thoughtful engineering matter.

Key Responsibilities

  • Platform Development: Build and maintain core company features, including credential collection workflows, onboarding automation, and client- and candidate-facing interfaces.
  • Systems Integration: Implement and maintain integrations with external CRMs, such as Bullhorn, Salesforce, and Microsoft Dynamics, as well as other client systems.
  • Front-End Engineering: Develop secure TypeScript-based UI functionality, including delegated event handling and DOM manipulation. Apply modern HTML and CSS practices to create reliable and maintainable interfaces.
  • Database Design: Work with SQL schemas and stored procedures. Implement safe and reliable code for reading and writing data.
  • Operational Reliability: Diagnose issues across distributed systems and APIs. Troubleshoot document generation and multi-system data workflows. Improve software stability, traceability, and reliability.
  • Code Quality: Write clear, maintainable code with predictable behaviour. Make well-reasoned architectural and technical decisions.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the team and customers to understand compliance requirements and translate them into practical software solutions. Security is a key design and implementation consideration across all responsibilities.

The business operates in a quality-controlled environment with ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials Plus certification, so secure engineering practices are fundamental to the role. As a small team, everyone works closely with customers and may occasionally support practical tasks outside pure software development. This could include reviewing document templates, resolving issues, or helping diagnose data problems that affect client workflows. This hands-on approach is an important part of ensuring the business remains reliable, secure, and customer-centred.

Essential Criteria:

  • Strong professional experience with C#/.NET web development using MVC.
  • Solid understanding of TypeScript, DOM manipulation, and secure front-end patterns, experience with modern HTML and CSS practices.
  • Strong experience working with SQL.
  • Comfortable working with Azure services (App Registrations, identity, storage etc).
  • Ability to reason clearly, write maintainable code, and explain technical decisions effectively.
  • A thoughtful engineering style, with a focus on getting things right and creating solutions that are clear, practical, maintainable, and ready to deliver.

What You’ll Get:

  • The opportunity to work on a platform with real operational impact in healthcare.
  • A calm, thoughtful engineering environment with clear priorities.
  • Opportunities to influence architecture, integrations, and future product direction.
  • Flexibility, autonomy, and meaningful ownership of your work.
