Gentech Recruitment is proud to be partnering with a leading UK manufacturer to recruit an experienced Maintenance Engineer. As a Maintenance Engineer, you'll play a vital role in keeping production running efficiently while helping to improve the reliability and performance of highly automated manufacturing equipment. You'll be trusted to diagnose faults, identify long-term engineering solutions and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that make a real impact across the business.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance to maximise equipment reliability.
- Responding quickly to electrical and mechanical breakdowns to minimise production downtime.
- Diagnosing and repairing faults across automated manufacturing equipment.
- Working with single and three-phase electrical systems, motors, drives, inverters, relays and PLC-controlled machinery.
- Supporting robotic cells, CNC machinery, paint lines and automated production systems.
- Reading and interpreting electrical drawings to assist with fault diagnosis.
- Working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Supporting continuous improvement projects to increase equipment performance and efficiency.
- Identifying recurring faults and implementing permanent engineering solutions.
- Maintaining the highest standards of health, safety and housekeeping.
- Working collaboratively with production teams, contractors and external service engineers when required.

Essential
- Qualified Mechanical Engineer.
- Previous experience within a manufacturing or industrial maintenance environment.
- Strong electrical fault-finding ability.
- Experience working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- A proactive approach with a commitment to continuous improvement.
Desirable
- Experience with PLC-controlled machinery.
- Fabrication experience.
- Previous experience within an automated manufacturing environment.
Shift Pattern
This position operates on a rotating three-shift pattern:
- Week 1 Monday to Thursday: 5:30am - 2:00pm, Friday: 5:30am - 12:00pm
- Week 2 Monday to Thursday: 2:00pm - 10:30pm, Friday: 12:00pm - 6:30pm
- Week 3 Sunday to Wednesday: 11:00pm - 5:30am, Thursday night through to Friday: 5:30am finish
