Gentech Recruitment is delighted to be partnering with a leading global engineering organisation to recruit an experienced Design Engineer based at their Lisburn facility.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced electronics or hardware engineer to join a highly skilled engineering team working on innovative monitoring and diagnostic technologies used within the electrical power industry.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting product development, troubleshooting complex hardware issues, driving continuous improvement, and delivering engineering solutions to customers worldwide.

Key Responsibilities As the Design Engineer, your responsibilities will include: Troubleshoot complex electro-mechanical products, identifying faults and implementing effective engineering solutions.

Design and deliver hardware improvements to enhance product performance and reliability.

Work collaboratively with hardware, software and firmware engineers to ensure seamless integration across products.

Manage small engineering projects from concept through to completion, delivering both internal and customer-driven requirements.

Support Manufacturing Engineering by improving production yields through the design of test procedures, fixtures and validation methods.

Redesign printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) to address component obsolescence and supply chain shortages.

Ensure all hardware designs comply with company engineering standards and design review processes.

Produce and maintain accurate technical documentation where required.

Provide technical support across engineering teams and undertake additional duties as required by the Hardware Functional Manager.

Essential Criteria Applicants should possess: Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or a closely related discipline.

Alternatively, an HND with significant relevant industry experience will also be considered.

Proven experience in hardware and electronic circuit design.

Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills across electronic hardware.

Good understanding of embedded software and its interaction with electronic hardware.

Ability to work independently while managing priorities and meeting project deadlines.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Strong organisational skills with a structured and methodical approach.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly when communicating technical information.

Desirable Experience While not essential, experience in any of the following would be advantageous: Product development within industrial or power systems.

PCB design or redesign.

Manufacturing support and test equipment development.

Electro-mechanical product design.
