Pricing Senior Actuarial Student – London Life & Health Team

In this challenging and rewarding role, you’ll work across multiple life insurance product lines, serving Gen Re and our diverse client base. You’ll support managing client pricing relationships and partner closely with colleagues in the UK and other Gen Re offices to drive our strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support delivery of quotes for individual and group reinsurance business, including setting pricing assumptions, securing approvals, and generating premium rates.
  • Perform experience analyses to monitor Gen Re’s portfolio performance and inform pricing decisions.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across Gen Re offices to advance broader business objectives.
  • Contribute to the team’s ongoing aim to improve processes.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Part-qualified actuary. Candidates must have completed Core Principles and Core Practices modules of the IFoA exams.
  • Work experience, preferably in UK and Irish individual/group protection markets and reinsurance pricing.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills; familiarity with R or similar statistical/programming tools.
  • Strong statistical and financial modelling skills, underpinned by curiosity and analytical rigour.
  • Exhibits sound commercial judgment and a deep understanding of risk management principles.
  • Integrates risk and commercial thinking into actuarial analysis and recommendations.

  • Able to manage time to perform multiple short-term tasks and a couple of medium-term tasks in parallel.
  • Works with regular supervision, can perform medium-size tasks independently with only self-checking.
  • Proactive ownership of decisions and outcomes; delivers high quality work with minimal supervision.

  • Communicates complex actuarial concepts clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
