London . The Finance team is one of Gen Re's global teams which support all the Gen Re companies in London, including Faraday.

Main Purpose of the Role

Working as an integral part of the London Finance Team the role will initially focus on expense reporting and will develop to include assistance with the timely and accurate preparation of management reporting and reporting across the Gen Re group companies in London (this includes Gen Re London Reinsurance branches, Faraday Lloyds Syndicate and its associated companies and other group insurance companies managed by the Finance team).

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of a wide range of information and reporting completed by the London Finance team including prepayments and accruals schedules.
  • Extract data from source systems, applying appropriate adjustments transparently and providing outputs and analysis to support the submission of Information.
  • Maintain and develop control checks to ensure workings are consistent and accurate with underlying data.
  • Make and recommend process changes and streamline the production of information.
  • Record and input financial data in SAP (GL Package).
  • Ensure all information and returns are prepared in a timely manner and complete for review.
  • Remain up to date with changes in reporting regimes and assist the implementation of such changes.
  • Liaise with both internal and external clients including assisting the external audit team with questions as and when they arise.
  • Maintain procedures manuals for areas of focus.
  • Prepare ad‑hoc additional returns as and when required and involve in ad‑hoc projects where necessary.

Qualifications & Experience

  • The ideal candidate will be AAT qualified or passed their CIMA/ACCA stage 1 with relevant experience in an accounting role to support this.

Commit to starting or continuing your ACCA/CIMA qualification.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to manipulate data while paying particular attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Highly organized with ability to handle multiple priorities and operate various applications to meet tight deadlines.
  • Good understanding of accruals and prepayments and how they are calculated.
  • Knowledge of the preparation of VAT returns.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, be easy to approach and able to convey information, ideas and viewpoints appropriately.
  • Self‑motivated and willing to learn.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel in particular).
