We are seeking a Senior Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (F&O) Technical Expert to provide in-house technical leadership for our enterprise ERP platform within a regulated financial services environment. This role owns the technical architecture, development standards, integrations, and long-term stability of D365 F&O, ensuring compliance, security, scalability, and high availability for mission-critical finance operations.
What you’ll be doing
- Technical Leadership & Architecture
- Serve as the senior technical authority for Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O across finance-centric workloads.
- Define and enforce technical architecture, development standards, and best practices aligned with Microsoft and financial services regulatory requirements.
- Lead technical design decisions for enhancements, customizations, and integrations.
- Development & Platform Ownership
- Design, develop, and maintain advanced customizations and event-driven frameworks.
- Own application lifecycle management using Azure DevOps, including branching strategies and release governance.
- Ensure all developments are upgrade-safe and compliant with Microsoft’s One Version strategy.
- Integrations, Data & Controls
- Architect and support integrations using OData, REST APIs, Dual-write, DMF, and Azure integration services (Logic Apps, Functions, Service Bus).
- Support complex financial data flows, reconciliations, and batch processing.
- Implement and maintain strong data integrity, auditability, and financial controls across integrated systems.
- Security, Compliance & Risk
- Design and manage security roles, duties, and privileges in alignment with SoD, SOX, and internal control frameworks.
- Support audits, regulatory reviews, and risk assessments related to ERP systems.
- Partner with InfoSec and Risk teams to ensure compliance with financial services security standards.
- Environment, Performance & Reliability
- Own non-production and production environments (Dev, Test, UAT, Prod).
- Monitor performance, help resolve complex incidents, and conduct root-cause analysis.
- Plan and execute Microsoft updates, hotfixes, and platform upgrades with minimal business disruption.
- Translate complex finance and regulatory requirements into robust technical solutions.
- Act as technical lead for external vendors and system integrators, reviewing designs and code quality.
- Mentor internal developers and contribute to ERP knowledge maturity.
The ideal background for this role:
- 7+ years of experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O, including senior or lead technical roles.
- Deep expertise in X++, extension-based development, and performance optimization.
- Strong experience with Azure DevOps, LCS, and enterprise release management.
- Proven background supporting finance-heavy ERP implementations in regulated environments.
- Hands-on experience with integrations, data migration, and complex batch processing.
- Strong understanding of financial controls, audit requirements, and compliance frameworks.
- Microsoft Dynamics 365 certifications (Senior Developer, Solution Architect).
- Experience in banking, insurance, asset management, or payments environments.
- Experience with Power Platform and reporting tools (Power BI).
- Familiarity with cloud governance, data residency, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Senior technical ownership and decision-making authority.
- Risk-aware engineering mindset.
- Strong stakeholder communication across Finance, Risk, Audit, and IT.
- Ability to balance regulatory compliance with system agility.
Role Location/Hybrid Schedule
This role can be based in our Southampton office and would consider a London option based on candidate availability. Although the nature of most roles within Gen II cannot be classed as totally flexible, there is scope in some cases for a form of Agile Working. The different ways in which Agile Working can be undertaken is dependent on the demands and needs of the business, the office space available and the individual’s preferences and circumstances.
