Key Responsibilities
- Own and drive the monthly closing process under the supervision of the Senior Finance Manager:
- Take the full responsibility for preparing and maintaining the monthly closing calendar
- Ensuring deadlines are met and tasks are properly assigned and completed on time
- Responsible (review) of key journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and trial balances
- Act as the key owner of the balance sheet reconciliation process, ensuring completeness, consistency and timely resolution of discrepancies
- Oversee the day-to-day accounts payable function:
- Ensure timely processing and accurate recording of invoices and payments
- Monitor the AP aging and resolve supplier issues in a timely manner
- Review and validate the work performed by junior accountants
- Act as a liaison between the Senior Finance Manager and junior team members, ensuring smooth communication and task coordination
- Superviseand support the development of junior staff
- Oversee the billing process:
- Plan and coordinate client billing cycles
- Review draft invoices for accuracy and completeness before final issuance
- Maintain and improve internal financial controls and ensure compliance with internal procedures
- Financial Accounting & Audit
- Production of financial statements for Group Legal entities in compliance with accounting standards including IFRS, FRS 102 and LUXGAAP would be beneficial but not required
- Assist with internal and external audits, ensuring timely responses to audit queries and proper documentation
- Support the efficient processing of finances transactions and the maintenances of key finances controls and taking an active role with the daily and month end processes
- Board Reporting
- Contribute to the preparation of the Exco/Board packs (P&L, BS, Regulatory tests), with ability to perform preliminary variance analysis and understand budget to actual deviations
- Maintain robust and accurate regulatory reporting for regulated entities in multiple jurisdictions
Tax Compliance
- Assist with preparation of monthly VAT returns
The ideal background for this role:
- ACA/ACCA (or similar) Qualified or part Qualified
- 5+ years’ experience or exposure to a financial management environment or similar
- Financial accounting and preparation of simple financial statements
- Knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP principles LUXGAAP would be beneficial but not required
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office software
- Understanding of controls in a financial reporting context
Role Location/Hybrid Schedule
This role is based in our Southampton office. Although the nature of most of the roles within Gen II cannot be classed as totally flexible, there is scope in some cases for a form of Agile Working. The different ways in which Agile Working can be undertaken is dependent on the demands and needs of the business, the office space available and the individual’s preferences and circumstances.
