The Client

GEMX is an industry-led collaborative growth network dedicated to advancing the engineering and manufacturing sector in the North West. Established in April 2022, GEMX plays a pivotal role in nurturing talent and inspiring the next generation. Our work encompasses both educational and industry-focused initiatives.

The Role

The Education Manager will be the key point of contact for schools, and work closely with the GEMX Project Director to enhance the STEM curriculum, facilitating collaboration between industry and education while raising awareness of the Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering Sector and developing a pipeline of talent within the North West.

Main Duties:

  • Develop, plan and implement educational activities to support technology and careers delivery within the NI Curriculum at both primary and secondary level;
  • Develop a range of resources to support classroom delivery to enable promotion of the Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering Sector;
  • Manage and develop the GEMX MakeME Academy;
  • Work with GEMX stakeholders to develop STEM workshops for delivery in primary schools;
  • Support the work of DfE and DfC in relation to Careers Guidance.

The role will be based remotely, with office working and team catch ups 1-2 times per week.

The Person

This role would be ideal for a candidate who has experience in the design and delivery of a set curriculum or programme and has a passion for working with young people.

Essential Criteria

  • Formal qualification at Level 4 or above;
  • Previous demonstrable experience of working within a learning environment;
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills;
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to work independently;
  • Full driver’s license and access to own car for business use.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience of maintaining and developing relationships with external organisations;
  • Previous experience of working with children and young adults;
  • Knowledge of Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering Sector;
  • Knowledge of NI Curriculum and available educational routes.
