What you’ll do
- Design and analyze bridge structures using advanced engineering principles and software tools, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, civil engineers, and project managers, to develop comprehensive project plans and specifications.
- Conduct site assessments and inspections to evaluate the condition of existing bridges and recommend necessary repairs or upgrades.
- Prepare detailed engineering reports, including findings from inspections and analyses, to communicate project status and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Manage project timelines and budgets, ensuring deliverables are met on schedule and within financial constraints.
- Assist in the preparation of proposals and presentations for clients, showcasing Gemtec’s capabilities and project approach.
- Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in bridge engineering to enhance project outcomes.
- Mentor junior engineers and interns, providing guidance and support in their professional development and project contributions.
- Participate in community engagement initiatives related to infrastructure projects, promoting public awareness and understanding of engineering practices.
- Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations throughout all phases of project execution.
- Collaborate with regulatory agencies to secure necessary permits and approvals for bridge construction and maintenance activities.
- Utilize project management software to track progress, manage resources, and facilitate communication among team members.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred for Senior level applicants.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in bridge engineering, with a proven track record of successful project delivery.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for registration in New Brunswick.
- Proficiency in structural analysis software such as SAP2000, LUSAS, or similar tools.
- Strong understanding of bridge design codes, standards, and best practices.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex technical information to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools is an asset.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
Nice to have
- Experience with innovative bridge design techniques, including the use of sustainable materials and construction methods.
- Knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles as they relate to bridge foundations and support systems.
- Previous involvement in public engagement or stakeholder consultation processes for infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with environmental regulations and impact assessments related to bridge construction and maintenance.
- Membership in professional engineering organizations, such as the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering (CSCE).
Skills & tools
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other design software relevant to bridge engineering.
