We’re hiring a Junior Data Centre Technician to support critical infrastructure across on-site customer data centres. This is a hands-on role where you’ll work with servers, hardware, cabling, and diagnostics while learning from experienced engineers in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.
Contract: Onsite in Newport, 12 Month-rolling contract
Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot and maintain hardware, cabling, and IT systems, with expertise in at least one field.
- Perform data centre hardware setups, startups, and shutdowns following specific instructions.
- Diagnose and resolve issues, replacing faulty components efficiently.
- Ensure proper grounding, labelling, and cabling according to safety protocols and deployment standards.
- Communicate and elevate incidents as necessary.
- Contribute to a positive team environment through information sharing and regular meetings.
- Take ownership of service quality and user experience.
- Conduct training on new processes, tools, and issue resolution.
- Assist in conducting failure analysis and participate in new product training.
- Support incident management to minimize customer impact.
Requirements:
- Strong interest in IT, hardware, or data centre environments.
- Knowledge of computer/server hardware.
- A proactive, detail-oriented mindset and willingness to learn.
- Comfortable working in a physical, hands-on technical role.
- Ideally 1-2 years of data centre technician experience.
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, CompTIA Server+, CCENT, CCNA, MCP/MSCE are preferred.
