What we are looking for: John Cabot Academy is looking for a Designated Safeguarding Lead to join our supportive and talented team. We are a diverse multi-Academy trust, looking for professional and ambitious people, with a passion for transforming our students’ learning.
To be successful in the post, we are looking for a Designated Safeguarding Lead who will act as the main point of contact, with lead responsibility within the Academy, for safeguarding and child protection in line with statutory requirements. Duties will include:
- Lead in facilitating the development of safeguarding policies, guidance, training, and procedures for the Academy.
- Evaluate training provided, ensure compliance, and ensure that safeguarding is embedded in the culture of the Academy.
- Produce written reports and audits for internal or CLF analysis and review.
- Lead school-based meetings and CPD sessions for safeguarding or wider staff members.
- Line manage members of the wider safeguarding team e.g. DDSL as directed.

Safeguarding and pre-employment checks: The Cabot Learning Federation is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This role has significant responsibility for ensuring safeguarding practice within the academy and involves working with children on a daily basis.
The successful applicant will, in accordance with statutory guidance, be subject to a comprehensive pre-employment checking process including references from current and previous employers, health, right to work in the UK, and a child disqualification check. The checks will also include an enhanced DBS check and a further check against the appropriate barred list.
