Department Background
The Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence Department acts on behalf of individuals who have suffered injury, illness, or loss as a result of accidents, medical negligence, and other incidents where compensation may be recoverable.
The department is recognised for its client-focused approach, providing compassionate support while pursuing the best possible outcomes for clients throughout the claims process.
The team handles a broad range of complex and sensitive matters, including medical negligence claims, surgical errors, delayed or incorrect diagnoses, birth injury claims, road traffic accidents, workplace accidents, public liability claims, serious injury cases, and fatal accident claims.
Working closely with clients, medical experts, and other professionals, the department is committed to delivering outstanding legal representation and achieving successful results.
Duties and responsibilities
- Report directly to the Department Director
- Professional pro-active approach, strong client care skills and a sensitive and sympathetic understanding of clients’ needs
- Responsible for all aspects of Clinical Negligence work and on occasions, where appropriate providing technical expertise and guidance to other team members
- Manage a varied caseload of Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence matters, providing high-quality legal advice and representation
- Assisting with casework including dealing with a range of Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence cases that have been issued at court. including excellent understanding of the Civil Procedure Rules and protocols
- Attending clients, taking instructions and preparing cases
- Dealing with correspondence
- Drafting schedules of loss
- Reviewing Medical Records
- Maintaining accurate time costing procedures
- Implementing any recommendations made by your supervisor following monthly file reviews ensuring that these are dealt with promptly
Experience and qualifications
- Qualified Solicitor (NQ to 6 years' PQE) with experience in Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence Law, demonstrating the ability to manage a varied and complex caseload while achieving positive client outcomes.
- Must have a clean, valid Practicing Certificate at the time of applying
- Committed team player and adapt well to new challenges
- Proven supervisory experience, with a track record of managing performance and working effectively against key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Professional with a pro-active approach; excellent client care skills and ability to deal with client matters in a sensitive manner and resolve complicated practicalities
- Excellent networking and communication skills with the ability to successfully market the Company and generate new business
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills
- Ability to use own initiative and sound judgment Working knowledge of Clinical Negligence work and have the ability to service privately funded cases
- Experience in own advocacy is an advantage
- Excellent IT Skills -familiar with Microsoft Office applications and document.
