Job Title: DA Refuge Practitioner Location: Loughborough Hours: Part time – 18.5 hours per week Salary: £12,602 About the Role We are seeking a compassionate, skilled DA Refuge Practitioner to provide day and night support to BAME women and their children experiencing domestic abuse, violence, and related harms. This is a frontline role within our supported refuge accommodation, focused on safety, empowerment, dignity, and culturally sensitive care. You will work as part of a dedicated team to deliver high-quality, trauma-informed, and culturally appropriate support, ensuring residents feel safe, respected, and supported to rebuild their lives. Key Responsibilities Provide one-to-one practical and emotional support to BAME women and their children experiencing domestic abuse. Receive, assess, and process referrals, including risk and needs assessments Support residents with benefits, housing, immigration issues, legal options, health, education, budgeting, and move-on accommodation Deliver culturally sensitive inductions and ensure residents understand refuge policies and licence agreements Advocate for service users and liaise with external agencies such as solicitors, social services, health professionals, courts, and housing providers Support safeguarding, child protection, MARAC, and multi-agency working Undertake night and on-call duties as part of a rota, responding to emergencies and out-of-hours admissions Maintain accurate case records, monitoring data, and administrative duties Contribute to the safe, secure, and well-maintained running of the refuge Promote independence, wellbeing, and empowerment for residents What We’re Looking For Essential: Relevant qualification or equivalent experience working with vulnerable adults, women, children, or young people Minimum 2 years’ experience working with BAME communities affected by domestic abuse, forced marriage, or honour-based violence Minimum 3 years’ experience in a care, support, or social welfare setting Fluent English and at least one BAME community language Strong understanding of domestic abuse within BAME contexts, safeguarding, and relevant legislation Ability to work flexibly, including nights and unsocial hours Excellent communication, report writing, and IT skills Empathetic, non-judgmental, and resilient approach Full driving licence, access to a vehicle, and business insurance Clear Enhanced DBS Desirable: First Aid qualification Experience in the voluntary sector Experience delivering training or supporting grant applications
