About the Role: We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Children and Young People Practitioner to support children and young adults affected by domestic abuse. This role involves managing a caseload, providing direct support, developing projects, and working collaboratively with partner agencies to ensure inclusive, culturally sensitive services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored support to children and young people affected by domestic abuse.
- Manage caseloads, carry out risk assessments, and develop safety plans.
- Work within safeguarding frameworks for children and vulnerable adults.
- Develop and facilitate community-based projects with input from children and young people.
- Maintain accurate records in line with GDPR and organisational policies.
- Contribute to service development, evaluation, and continuous improvement.
- Empower children, young people, and families to build resilience, confidence, and independence.
Person Specification:
Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree or professional qualification in social work, health, education, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 3 yearsβ experience supporting BAME communities and/or domestic abuse survivors.
- Experience in social care, welfare, or safeguarding children and young adults.
Skills and Competencies:
- Ability to work safely with vulnerable people, including risk assessment, safety planning, and confidentiality procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written; additional BME language skills desirable.
- Ability to manage complex caseloads, prioritise effectively, and work independently.
- Strong IT, administrative, and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work flexibly, including occasional evenings or weekends.
Knowledge and Understanding:
- Understanding of issues affecting children and young people who have experienced domestic abuse.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and policy frameworks.
- Aware of the impact of race, ethnicity, gender, and other forms of inequality on service users.
Additional Requirements:
- Full DBS clearance.
- Valid driving licence with access to a vehicle.
- First Aid training (or willingness to undertake).
