We are recruiting experienced Senior Support Workers to provide high-quality, person-centred support to individuals with complex needs, including learning disabilities, autism, acquired brain injuries, mental health needs and behaviours that challenge.

This role combines direct care with supporting colleagues, maintaining safe staffing arrangements and ensuring that individual care plans and behavioural support strategies are followed consistently.

Candidates should be confident managing challenging situations, supporting individuals with high levels of need and helping colleagues deliver safe, consistent care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support to individuals with complex needs and behaviours that challenge.
  • Guide and support Support Workers during shifts.
  • Work within enhanced staffing arrangements, including 3:1, 4:1 and 5:1 support packages.
  • Recognise behavioural triggers and implement preventative and de-escalation strategies.
  • Support safe responses to physical aggression, behavioural escalation and other high-risk situations.
  • Follow individual care plans, Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) plans and risk assessments.
  • Ensure physical interventions are used only when authorised, necessary, proportionate and undertaken by appropriately trained staff.
  • Maintain accurate care records, behavioural observations and incident reports.
  • Support new colleagues through shadow shifts and competency development.
  • Escalate safeguarding concerns, incidents and changes in risk appropriately.
  • Promote dignity, independence and least restrictive practice.

Essential Requirements

  • Significant experience supporting individuals with complex needs and behaviours that challenge.
  • Experience working within 3:1, 4:1 or 5:1 staffing arrangements, or comparable high-acuity care settings.
  • Practical experience managing behavioural escalation and physical aggression.
  • Strong de-escalation and conflict management skills.
  • Experience with physical intervention or restraint in an appropriate care setting.
  • Experience implementing PBS plans, behavioural risk assessments and complex care plans.
  • Experience supporting or informally supervising other care workers.
  • Understanding of safeguarding, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) and least restrictive practice.
  • Strong communication, teamwork and emotional resilience.
  • Unrestricted Right to Work in the UK. Candidates holding restricted visas cannot be accepted.

Training and Qualifications

DMI (Dynamis) training is highly desirable. Candidates with current or recent PMVA or equivalent recognised physical intervention training may also be considered, subject to competency review and completion of any required additional training.

Experience in learning disabilities, autism, acquired brain injury, mental health, Positive Behaviour Support and incident management is advantageous.

Salary and Benefits

  • Β£15.00 per hour.
  • Β£28,080 per year based on 36 hours per week.
  • Β£37,440 per year based on 48 hours per week.

Yorkshire: Doncaster, Sheffield, Hull, Huddersfield, Harrogate, Wakefield, Bradford and Leeds.
