About the Company

We’re Gemba — a fast-moving enterprise training company on a mission to make boring training a thing of the past. Our Newcastle team is small, collaborative and hands-on. We’re only small, but we’re working with some of the world’s biggest companies, creating immersive training.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Junior QA Tester with a creative spark to join us for a fixed term maternity contract until January 2027. We need someone who’s eager, switched-on, and ready to get up to speed quickly.

The Mission

  • QA Testing: Test our VR platform and experiences to ensure they are bug-free. You’ll spend a lot of your day inside a VR headset.
  • Bug Hunting: Log, track, and retest bugs using structured plans.
  • Creative Destruction: Think outside the box to try and 'break' the build.
  • Collaboration: Work right next to developers and artists to polish the product.
  • A Clear Communicator: There is no point finding a bug if you can’t explain the issue. You’ll need to be able to describe problems clearly to developers so they can fix them fast.

The "Wildcard" (Your Bonus Power)

We’d love someone who brings a little something extra to the table. This doesn’t need to be professional-level experience—just a hobby or passion you want to develop. This could be:

  • Animation
  • Basic coding or Unity experience
  • Technical artist
  • Sound engineer
  • AI image creation
  • Graphic design (Photoshop/Adobe Suite)
  • Video editing
  • Or any other creative/technical skill you’ve dabbled in!

These are just suggestions and not pre-requisites for the role.

About You

  • Ambitious & Curious: You love gaming, VR, AI, and creative tech.
  • A "Do-er": You enjoy solving problems and jumping between different types of tasks.
  • No Ego: You’re happy taking direction and helping wherever needed.
  • Passionate & Proactive: Your hobbies and personal projects reflect what you want to get into.
  • Confident Communicator: You receive feedback positively, you communicate clearly and bring good vibes to the team.

We don’t require testing experience, or a degree. This is an entry level role for someone passionate about video games, AI, and digital creative work. Passion projects and side hustles absolutely count as relevant experience and that’s what we want to see! Attach your portfolio, website, GitHub etc.

The Logistics

  • Salary: £25,000 per annum.
  • Location: Fully onsite in our Newcastle office. Please check your commute before applying.
  • Hours: 8.30am - 5pm
  • Start date: ASAP
  • We are unfortunately unable to offer relocation packages or visa sponsorship for this role.

What you’ll get

  • Experience working in a fast-growing industry with the latest tech (VR, AI).
  • A close-knit, supportive team who will teach you loads.
  • A chance to stretch into new skills and find your path.

How to apply

Apply via LinkedIn with your CV, plus either a link to your work or a cover letter. We look forward to hearing from you!
