About Us – Fan Focused. Results Driven

At Gemba, we work at the intersection of sport, entertainment and culture, bringing strategy, data and analytics, insights and communications together to deliver results that matter. Our name comes from the Japanese term gemba, meaning "the real place", which reflects our commitment to uncovering the truth at the heart of fan behaviour. Since 2006, we’ve built our reputation by understanding audiences deeply, helping our clients cut through the noise of an increasingly complex and competitive landscape. We are proud to partner with major brands, rights holders and organisations to shape the future of sport and entertainment, whether driving commercial growth, increasing participation or creating meaningful engagement. If you are passionate about fans, culture and creating impact, you’ll find your place at Gemba.

About The Role

We’re looking for a curious, detail-driven Analyst to join our Data & Analytics team. Someone who is passionate about turning numbers into narratives and building stories that clients can act on. In this role, you’ll support in designing and delivering end-to-end analytics projects. You'll work across CRM, digital, social, and research datasets to unlock strategic insights that shape how brands connect with fans. As a trusted analytics partner, you’ll help clients understand their audiences and make smarter, data-led decisions. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys hands‑on analysis, wants to take ownership of deliverables, and is ready to help shape how brands connect with fans.

Responsibilities

  • Query, clean, and transform data from multiple sources to communicate trends, behaviours and opportunities.
  • Design and execute data analyses to support fan segmentation, campaign measurement, and business intelligence.
  • Develop scalable, intuitive dashboards and visualisations using tools like PowerBI, Tableau, or Looker.
  • Contribute to the development of advanced models and analytical frameworks (e.g. clustering, forecasting, propensity scoring).

Client Communication & Reporting

  • Work closely with internal teams and client stakeholders to translate findings into recommendations.
  • Prepare clear, well‑structured reports and documentation for both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Present findings with clarity and confidence, supporting client workshops and planning sessions.

Team Collaboration & Innovation

  • Collaborate with Strategy, Creative, and Tech teams to deliver integrated project outcomes.
  • Contribute to Gemba’s internal IP, case studies and thought leadership.
  • Stay curious and always seek new ways to explore and present data.

About You

Experience & Background

  • 2+ years in a data analyst, marketing analyst, or BI analyst role.
  • Strong technical foundation in SQL, Excel, and data visualisation tools (PowerBI, Looker, Tableau).
  • Tertiary qualifications in computer science, statistics, economics, mathematics, or similar.
  • Familiarity with serverless workflows (e.g. Google Cloud Functions).
  • Interest in advanced analytics and ML techniques (segmentation, clustering, classification, propensity models).
  • A passion for sport, entertainment and the power of data to drive connection.

Skills & Tools

  • Solid data manipulation, storytelling and problem‑solving skills.
  • Experience working with large datasets across CRM, digital, or marketing platforms.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to simplify complexity.
  • Ideally, exposure to Python, GCP, Git, or advanced analytics models.

Success Looks Like

  • Insightful analysis that leads to clear, impactful client decisions.
  • Outputs that feel effortless for clients to use and understand.
  • A strong contributor to Gemba’s growing reputation in fan‑first analytics.
