With a strong order book and robust pipeline of business opportunities, the new owners have already committed to significant CAPEX investment into the North East operation. This represents an exciting opportunity to join a newly established UK operation at the start of a major investment programme that will transform the long-term prospects of both the site and the wider business.
As part of a ramp up across their Operations and Engineering functions, the successful candidate will become part of a progressive organisation committed to delivering complex projects for major international clients around the world. The Role:
- The role will oversee and optimise welding processes for heavy engineering manufacturing projects. This role is critical in ensuring weld quality, performance efficiency, and timely delivery aligned with business KPIs.
- Monitor, develop and improve welding procedures to ensure quality, integrity, and compliance with standards, providing technical welding support across projects.
- Conduct R&D activities to enhance weld properties and expand manufacturing capabilities.
- Identify and implement new welding technologies, materials, and techniques.
- Monitor, analyse, and improve welding productivity and efficiency.
- Manage welding procedures and welder qualification portfolios.
- Authorise and manage welding-related documentation and procedures.
- Work closely with engineering, production, QA/QC teams, suppliers, and clients.
The Person:
- Candidates should ideally be degree qualified in a related engineering discipline, with professional registration (e.g. CEng or IEng) highly desirable.
- IWE/EWE Diploma qualified, or near completion with substantial experience.
- The successful candidate will have strong technical expertise in welding processes including mechanised SAW, MAG/GMAW, and MMA/SMAW, ideally within a high-volume heavy manufacturing or fabrication environment.
- Proven experience as a Welding Engineer in heavy manufacturing or fabrication.
- Solid understanding of welding safety standards and procedures in weld inspection and quality assurance.
- Knowledge of metallurgy and material selection.
- Ability to interpret technical standards and specifications.
