GEM Partnership is representing an ambitious transport, logistics and warehouse solutions provider based in the North East who are recruiting for an experienced Transport Manager. Our client is a well-established business delivering innovative, integrated and sustainable logistics solutions across warehousing, haulage and reworking. After significant investment and stellar growth, their plan is continued expansion, across both existing and new markets and services.

The Transport Manager will oversee all transport activity and ensure the efficient and safe movement of goods, compliance with regulations and effective management of their fleet and drivers.

The Role:

  • Ensure that all vehicles are regularly serviced and inspected and that repairs are completed to maintain roadworthiness
  • Lead, motivate and manage a team
  • Recruit, train and supervise drivers, ensuring they hold valid licenses and adhere to company policies
  • Maintain compliance with all transportation regulations
  • Keep accurate records of vehicle maintenance and driver hours etc
  • Manage budgets, optimise routes and improve overall operational efficiency
  • Develop and implement safety policies and procedures
  • Coordinate with clients to ensure timely and efficient delivery of goods.

The Person:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar environment
  • International CPC in Road Haulage
  • Ability to make decisions, solve problems and think laterally to manage sustainable change
  • Commercially astute and analytical with a high degree of numeracy
  • Ability to manage budgets and optimise operational costs
  • IT literate and proficient in transportation management software
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Leadership qualities including motivating, instructing, guiding, training and supporting a team, all while maintaining a positive attitude towards continued learning and growth.
