Gelfand, Rennert & Feldman is seeking an Accounts Assistant to join our team of dedicated professionals. This position will be based from our London office on a full-time basis, with potential for hybrid working following a 4-month probation. The Accounts Assistant will support the accounting team in maintaining accurate financial records for a portfolio of clients, assisting with day-to-day financial operations, and ensuring all transactions are recorded and processed efficiently.
Primary Responsibilities
- Preparation of annual accounts for portfolio of clients for senior review including:
- Preparation of Excel working papers
- Completing reconciliation of balance sheet accounts where required
- Inputting QuickBooks Trial balances into CCH accounts production program
- Preparing notes to the accounts as appropriate based on appropriate accounting standards (FRS102 1A, FRS 105)
- Preparing accounts from incomplete records
- Preparation of draft corporation tax computations for senior review
- Liaise with business management department to resolve year end accounting queries
- Assisting with the preparation of VAT returns
- Preparation of the annual confirmation statements
- Raising sales invoices as directed
- Attaching relevant supporting documents to the sales invoice – royalty statement summary sheet, VAT self-billing invoice, contract re show fees, contract re recording/publishing advances etc
- Allocated receipts against sales invoices
- Posting bill into Quick Books purchase ledger
- Attaching copy bill to Quick Books transaction
- Raising payment online with supporting payment pack for account manager review
- Saving payment pack on the server
- Run daily bank balances for the account manager
- Reconciling bank accounts at least on a monthly basis
- Posting petty cash and tour manager floats
- Reconciling formally to cash on hand on a monthly basis
- Posting and reconciling intercompany accounts on QB in local currencies
- Revaluating foreign currency balances at month end
- Generally assisting account manager as directed including:
- Assisting with the preparation of VAT returns
- Assisting with the preparation of management accounts
- Assisting with the preparation of tour accounts
- Assisting with the preparation of annual accounts
- Assisting with gathering information with personal and corporate tax returns
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required; accounting background is not mandatory
- Open to recent graduates and high school graduates
- Candidates who have started, or plan to start, ACCA are encouraged to apply
- AAT studies (completed or in progress) are preferred for more junior-level candidates
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written (in person, phone, and email)
- Demonstrates a sense of urgency and ability to prioritize effectively
- Highly detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy
- Solid interpersonal skills and other key soft skills (i.e., communication, time management, emotional intelligence, adaptability, active listening, critical-thinking, etc.)
Actual base pay could vary based on factors including but not limited to experience, subject matter expertise, geographic location where work will be performed, and the applicant's skill set. The base pay is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include an annual bonus and a comprehensive benefits package.
