Gelder Ltd are looking to recruit an experienced Estimator to join our Commercial Department. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented and commercially aware professional to play a key role in securing new projects and supporting the continued growth of the business. Gelder deliver projects across a wide range of sectors including healthcare, leisure, retail, refurbishment, and social housing, providing high-quality construction and refurbishment solutions for both public and private sector clients.
The Role
As an Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for a variety of construction and refurbishment projects. You will work closely with the commercial, pre-construction and delivery teams to ensure tenders are well prepared, commercially viable and aligned with company objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing detailed cost estimates for construction and refurbishment projects
- Analysing drawings, specifications and tender documentation
- Obtaining and evaluating subcontractor and supplier quotations
- Preparing bills of quantities and cost breakdowns
- Identifying risks and opportunities within tender submissions
- Liaising with subcontractors, suppliers and internal teams during the tender process
- Supporting the preparation of tender submissions and documentation
- Attending tender review meetings and assisting with bid strategies
- Maintaining accurate records of tender information and pricing data
- Assisting with value engineering and cost planning during the pre-construction stage
About You
- Previous experience working as an Estimator within the construction industry
- Strong analytical and numerical skills
- Ability to interpret drawings and technical specifications
- Good commercial awareness and understanding of construction processes
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Conquest experience desirable but not essential, training can be provided
