Gelder Ltd are looking to recruit an experienced Estimator to join our Commercial Department. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail‑oriented and commercially aware professional to play a key role in securing new projects and supporting the continued growth of the business. Gelder delivers projects across a wide range of sectors including healthcare, leisure, retail, refurbishment, and social housing, providing high‑quality construction and refurbishment solutions for both public and private sector clients.
The Role
As an Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for a variety of construction and refurbishment projects. You will work closely with the commercial, pre‑construction and delivery teams to ensure tenders are well prepared, commercially viable and aligned with company objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing detailed cost estimates for construction and refurbishment projects
- Analysing drawings, specifications and tender documentation
- Obtaining and evaluating subcontractor and supplier quotations
- Preparing bills of quantities and cost breakdowns
- Identifying risks and opportunities within tender submissions
- Liaising with subcontractors, suppliers and internal teams during the tender process
- Supporting the preparation of tender submissions and documentation
- Attending tender review meetings and assisting with bid strategies
- Maintaining accurate records of tender information and pricing data
- Assisting with value engineering and cost planning during the pre‑construction stage
About You
- Previous experience working as an Estimator within the construction industry
- Strong analytical and numerical skills
- Ability to interpret drawings and technical specifications
- Good commercial awareness and understanding of construction processes
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Conquest experience desirable but not essential, training can be provided
