Geldards LLP is a leading regional law firm with offices in Cardiff, Derby, Nottingham and London. We are currently looking for a Solicitor to join our Commercial Property team to assist with its varied and quality workload from a diverse client base. The role will involve assisting the partners and other members of the team in providing legal guidance and advice to existing clients and engage in new business development activities. You will work to support the core Commercial Property team in the provision of a high quality legal service to clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice and/or support as required to the team and clients.
- Managing complex caseload within the core Commercial Property team, providing appropriate advice in accordance with professional standards, compliance, and internal quality requirements.
- Process matters, through to completion; using the correct procedures; managing cases effectively and in accordance with the Firm’s standards.
- To deal courteously and promptly with any new instructions arising.
- To prepare and check any relevant legal documentation relating to matters.
- Provide appropriate guidance and advice to clients and process client cases in a timely and cost-effective basis.
- Issuing terms of engagement and estimates of fees and disbursements.
- Obtaining or checking Land Registry documents or title deeds (if land is registered).
- To bill and collect debts by achieving individual financial cost targets.
- To develop and maintain good client relationships and enhance the Firm’s client base by effective liaison with existing and new clients.
- To maximise the Firm’s potential to cross-sell services by identifying appropriate opportunities.
- Any other reasonable duties commensurate with the grade and post.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Qualified Solicitor or MCILEX / FCILEX with relevant experience in the field.
- Ability to manage complex caseloads, prioritise workloads and work under pressure.
- Ability to communicate confidently with both clients and all department levels across the Firm.
- Must be computer literate.
- High attention to detail and accuracy is essential.
- Must be able to work as part of a team as well as using own initiative.
- Ability to provide support and guidance to junior members of the team, with the assistance of senior members.
- Project a professional image at all times.

35 hour working week - Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm
25 days annual leave plus bank holidays (increasing to a maximum of 30 days for additional years of service)
